My smallholding dream started it 2011 in Lincolnshire after many years keeping chickens in the back garden for eggs and meat and an allotment. We now produce 100% of the meat we consume - poultry, pork, lamb, beef and fish, yes fish in the form of rainbow trout - along with a considerable amount of our veg.

We breed our own pigs and sheep nurturing the native and rare breeds of the UK like the Oxford Sandy and Black Pig and Hebridean sheep. Its all about sustainability, quality of life and the highest husbandry.

I like to dabble with charcuterie from Palma style hams to chorizo sausage. If you can buy it in the shop, my ethos is you can do better quality, more healthy and 0 food miles by making the use of what you have on the doorstep. Home reared chicken is a country mile ahead of the supermarket shelf.

We're just turning our hands to bees and honey and hope to get our first crop in 2020 with help from my local mentor.

I am also a stickler for the regulations, and whilst I would never say I'm an expert in any field, I have researched significantly the laws of what you can and cannot feed your livestock, and written a few articles on this and published a popular poster to demonstrate the regulations.
